MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Love and Rehab is to establish an inclusive volunteer movement by providing community service that creates outstanding opportunities for the recovery community. Our volunteers will be able to give back by assisting adults with intellectual disabilities. Love and Rehab is committed to fostering compassion and improving the lives of individuals working toward sobriety by volunteering with the special needs community. We will offer a safe space for our clients and volunteers to interact and create enjoyable activities.

HiSTORY
H E L E N S A L T E R
The history of Love and Rehab started 29 years ago when my daughter, Lauren, was diagnosed with Autism. My world, as I knew it, changed forever.
The challenges were complex, but the people I met on my journey with her are and have been more than impressive. Every person who has come into our lives through Lauren has a heart of gold. We are so incredibly fortunate. Without Lauren, we may have never crossed paths with the love and support of so many people. She has inspired me in so many ways. My career started in special education because of her and lasted 15 years. I was honored to work with so many special needs students. It opened my heart to a loving and kind world of teachers, therapists, aides, and friends.
In 2011 I decided to change paths and found myself motivated to seek a career in law enforcement. I knew I could make a difference and help our communities. Little did I know I would dedicate most of my work to those addicted to drugs and alcohol. Through my journey in law enforcement, I realized I could change the lives of the two most misunderstood communities: those in recovery and the intellectually disabled. My experience in both worlds brought me to Love and Rehab!
The idea behind Love and Rehab came to me because I realized that a high percentage of those in recovery are searching for connection and purpose. My goal is to offer a recreational program that will allow people in recovery to share their talents and compassion for others—connecting with those who will not judge them but embrace their presence. Our goal is to create love, lifelong friendships, and an experience that will last a lifetime.
